Riverside Bakery was commissioned as new in 1982 by Northern Foods to produce and bake a range of chilled hot eating pies and pastries for UK retailers private labels. The site was developed as part of a “brown field” re generation project on the North Bank of the River Trent barely two miles from Nottingham City centre. Two further investment projects in 1989 and 1998 have doubled the original size of the Bakery.

In January 2007, Riverside Bakery was one of five plants in the Northern Foods Group's Pork Farms portfolio, acquired by Vision Capital. Since then, Riverside Bakery has concentrated on the making and baking of Quiche and related Snacking and Party foods. Riverside Bakery now employs over 250 people and has ambitious growth plans.

Investment in Riverside Bakery will continue – ensuring a competitive product offer driven by an exciting innovation agenda and continuous improvements in processes, team building and training.
